40th anniversary of Modern Talking - Thomas Anders...sings Modern Talking

The release event on March 12, 2025 at the Zoopalast Berlin

On March 12, 2025, the large cinema hall of the legendary Zoopalast in Berlin was the venue for a very special event, as Thomas and Christian Geller invited around 800 enthusiastic guests and fans from Germany and abroad to a magnificent and unforgettable release event.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Modern Talking, Thomas has re-recorded all six albums, and we were even to hear a few songs that evening in the impressive Dolby Atmos sound.

Even before we were allowed in, there was a magical atmosphere in the air, full of anticipation and excitement, as you would otherwise only experience at a International Fanday. The exuberant mood in front of the doors even attracted the curious glances of passers-by, who stopped and were fascinated to ask what the queue of people, which stretched for several hundred meters to the train station, had gathered for.

Once we arrived in the cinema hall and were equipped with a few snacks and drinks, we first greeted some familiar faces, because we hadn't seen a few people in a while and we were able to catch up and chat a bit.

It was very impressive to look around the packed hall, which radiated an atmosphere of togetherness and anticipation. You could see happy, expectant faces in every corner – a backdrop that captured the special character of this evening.

At around 7:30 p.m., moderator Kai Böcking opened the evening with charm and wit and entertained us throughout the varied program. The evening offered a colorful mix of interviews – with Thomas and Christian as well as with a representative of Dolby Germany, the choir singer Christoph Leis-Bendorff from the 2nd era of Modern Talking and the live podcast with the presenter Jenny Augusta from the Apple music show “Das hört...”

A special highlight was experiencing some newly recorded songs from the anniversary album in breathtaking Dolby Atmos sound, which took the audience into a completely new sound dimension. It wasn't long before people were dancing exuberantly in the hall.

The emotional highlight of the evening was the live performance by Thomas, accompanied by Achim Brochhausen on the piano. Thomas talked about the song that he has fallen in love with again, because he had never sung it himself before. When Thomas sang “There's too much blue in missing you” very quietly and with a powerful, impressive voice in a wonderful ballad version, the fans came right up to the stage to listen devoutly. Yes, dear Thomas, we love this song just as much as you do!

After that, he started singing “You're my heart, You're my soul”, because this classic could not be missing, and people danced, sang along and celebrated wildly to it.

It was an unforgettable moment for everyone and a moving sight to see the joy on the faces of the audience and on those of Thomas and Achim on stage.

We were thrilled that Achim, who we hadn't seen in a few years, was part of the whole thing on this special evening and that we were able to see the two of them together again. Those who know us know that it's no secret that we always enjoy it when the two of them meet musically.

The grand finale was the premiere of the music video for “Don't fly too high” on the big cinema screen, which was really very impressive, because, as Christian explained, the video was made with the help of AI in his Studio 61.
In the video, Thomas could be seen singing together with his younger self, looking at each other, smiling and hugging. At that moment, it was a fascinating and emotional masterpiece of modern technology that, on this huge screen in the big movie theater, totally amazed and touched all the audience members in the room.

To the delight of everyone present, another highlight was announced to round off the evening: Thomas took a lot of time in the cinema foyer to sign boxes, CDs and other fan items and to take photos with his fans.

The fan CD and vinyl boxes were also available to buy there, and as an absolute goodie, there was a limited edition of 400 single vinyls of DON'T FLY TOO HIGH. The B-side features the unreleased bonus song DON'T BREAK MY SOUL, which will not be on the next album LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE until later. An absolute collector's item!!

Of course, there was a huge rush and it took some time before everyone got their turn, but we have to say that even then there was a cheerful, exuberant and harmonious atmosphere that underlined the special character of the evening. Even for the last ones in line, Thomas still had a charming smile and kind words after this long day.

This evening was more than just an event with a colorful program – it was a tribute to four decades of music history, an evening full of memories, great music and many wonderful moments and somehow also a thank you to the loyal fans who have always kept the magic of Modern Talking alive. It was an experience that will surely be remembered for a long time and for that we would like to say THANK YOU.
